According to the statistics of the state administration of security supervision, the number of accidents and deaths from January to July of this year have been falling. From January to July, there were 27,478 production safety accidents in China, and the death toll was 19,783, down by 24.7% and 16.8% respectively. Among them, there were 377 major accidents and 1,442 deaths, down 6.5% and 6.1% respectively. There are 17 major accidents and 225 deaths, increasing 1 case year on year. There is no special major accident happen nationwide, reducing 1 case and 35 deaths year on year.

However, the number of accidents in some industries has not been effectively contained. Road traffic had two major accidents in July. Major accidents in coal, chemical and construction sometimes have occurred. Especially on August 10, a major road traffic accident happened in Ankang, Shaanxi province. We must maintain a clear awareness and vigilance to this.

In view of the current situation, the committee office of the state council recently sent 16 teams, fanned out across the country 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and the Xinjiang production and construction corps to supervise the safety in production on site.

August comes during peak production season and peak travel time, added extremely weather, which often causes major and extraordinarily serious accidents. The state administration of safety supervision has stressed to  the safety supervision and supervision departments at all levels of the country to further implement the responsibility and strengthen measures. With "zero tolerance" attitude, the government should take measures to ensure the implementation of all measures for safe production, resolutely curb the occurrence of major accidents, and effectively prevent natural disasters from causing production safety accidents, and ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
